Fort Drum has no one base hospital and all of the major things are done at the off base hospital. Because of the medical clinics are so small we are offered a different type of insurance called martins point it is the same coverage as Tri care prime just you can see anyone and the referral process is so much better.

There is no emergency care on post. There is an Urgent Care clinic, but if emergency services are needed, you will need to go in to Carthage or Watertown, both roughly 8-10 miles away. On post the clinic I feel is like many others. The job gets done but improvements could be made. I personally chose an off post OB/GYN and we use the Children?「どィび「s Clinic for the dentist for our children.

There are primary care doctors on post if you choose to use them and for some things it seems to be the way to go. The care off post is very laid back in my experience. We used Carthage Hospital for everything and Dr. Fish and Harvey for my son off post. It was difficult to get them to pay attention to the problems he was having and they often put off seeing him until the problem was getting pretty bad.

I had on post doctors. I never met my actual PCM but had a few pretty good experiences there. They took me seriously when I went in and usually saw me in a reasonable amount of time concidering I was never sick.

I went off base to have my son. The OBGYN that delivered him was from the Carthage Area. They did not take anything seriously, including cramping, and many times left me no choice but to go to the ER because of their lack of equipment in office (the er was at their suggestion). The one time I went to the Fort Drum OBGYN (which is located in Watertown, but part of base) they were very nice, tried to help, and were ready to give me and ultrasound in office until they figured out that my referral was for the Carthage Doctors and I had been told to see them by accident.

I would stick to on base doctors if I was there again and use the Watertown Samaritan Hospital when ever possible.

There is no hospital on Fort Drum, you must use the civilian hospitals in the Watertown, NY area. There is a clinic on post for the soldiers but all dependents use civilian doctors off post! You still have no copayment with Tricare for routine approved care. Just make sure that your doctor is covered by Tricare before any appointments!
