Hello we will be PCSing from APG to Sembach in Nov of 2013....we want to try to get military housing...from reading other post it seems like that is going to be hard to do....I was wondering about finding a job and how much the military helps you and also about the CDC??? Any advice will be appreciated.

We will be PCSing from Fort Campbell to Sembach in december of 2013. what is it like I know we will hopefully be staying on base(yes I know there is not housing on Sembach and that we will be staying on a different base). I got the whole moving our pets over and know about getting our passports both regular cause we plan to travel while there and also about getting our no fee passport. My big question is kinda an embarrasing one I am a couponer and I have a decent stock pile I know that I cant take things in our freezer(duh) but what about things like my non perishable foods and things like all my unused soap body wash paper towels &tp and such can I have them sent with the rest of my things? also if we are going to be at a different base how do we get from one base to the other since our car wont be there for a couple of months and neither of us will have drivers license for germany(I was told that international drivers licenses are not acceptable)? can we get put on the waiting list for on base housing as soon as we get a copy of our orders so that hopefully a house will be ready for us when we get there? if not what is the avarage wait period for an E-5 with no kids?

We are Pcsing in July 2011. Really excited. We have 3 boys and a dog. Any advice on how hard or easy it is to get on base housing right away??? I have been looking online for pictures or info but have not found a thing.

Kaiserslautern is pretty Americanized for the most part, so going downtown is a lot easier if you don’t speak too much German. Downtown has a great out doors mall that’s great to go to on a sunny day. The food is great off post, and there are amazing bakeries around every corner. It only get real hot here maybe 3 months out of the year, other then that it’s pretty cloudy and freezing during the winter. The biggest PX/BX in the world is only about 10mins from K-town with a huge px/bx, macaroni grill, bakery, sports bar, and some other retail stores inside. We usually get celebs out here every other month, Emeril was here a few months ago and we get bands come here a lot. Any other info you want to know please don’t hesitate to ask
